Frédéric Thiriez


Born 1 July 1952.

Laureate of the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (1972), law degree (1973), former student at Ecole Nationale d'Administration (Promotion 1977), Frédéric Thiriez, former Master of Requests to the French Council of State (1977-1990) became barrister to the French Council of State and Supreme Court and a partner in Lyon-Caen & Thiriez in 1990.

He works mainly in matters of public law.

Carreer

His career is as follows:

Student at the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (1975-1977)

Master to the French Council of State, Administrative Claims, then the Interior (1977-1981)

Technical advisor in the office of the Minster of State, Minister of the Interior and Decentralisation (1981-1982)

Head of the office of the Secretary of State in the Ministry of the Interior and Decentralisation, responsible for Public Security(1982-1983)

Master of Requests at the French Council of State, government commissioner to the Litigation Assembly (1983-1984)

Head of the office of the Ministry of State for Regional Planning and Development (1984-1986)

Council of State, Administrative Claims (1986-1988)

Head of political, administrative and financial overseas affairs in the Ministry of French Overseas Territories and Departments (1988-1990)

 Barrister to the Council of State and Supreme Court (since 1990).

Knight of the French Legion of Honour and of the French National Order of Merit

Member of the governing board of the Ordre des Avocats aux Conseils since 2009

Complementary activities

Frédéric Thiriez is the author of an essay (Quatre Ans Après, Stock, 1985) and numerous legal articles. He has lectured at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris as well as at the Ecole Nationale d’Administration. In addition, he has been President of the Professional Football League since 2002, an elected unpaid position.
